Bronze edge handrail

Our bronze edge handrail combines a pared down, understated design with the timeless feel of patinated bronze. The 3 metre handrail is forged from marine grade stainless steel with a thermal bronze sprayed finish.

The marks from the forging process, what a blacksmith would call ‘fullering”,  have been intentionally left to give a tactile feel as your hand moves down the handrail. Rather than using conventional brackets we have used age old  blacksmithing techniques to  hot punch though the stainless steel section and hot riveted  a tenon into the swelling. This not only gives a super strong fixing to the wall but it also  highlights the process and techniques inherent in making this piece.

This high quality bronze finish is in stark contrast to other ‘faux’ finishes, like bronze powder coatings or paints. A thermal bronze finish  behaves in exactly the same way as solid bronze as the entire work is coated in molten metal.
