Deneway nature reserve Gates

The Deneway nature reserve gates  were commissioned by Sussex Wildlife trust to enhance and refresh the access to this urban woodland. Sitting on the edge of Brighton this green belt connects the downland beyond to the city. The brief called for a strong and robust design that gave the public a glimpse of what lies within.

We forged leaf profiles of native trees, including  Ash, Elm and Hawthorn, arranging them as if branches along the length of the gate. The gates have been galvanised and patinated to soften their appearance against the woodland. Brighton, 2023.
