We’ve got a couple of large fire baskets underway at the moment for an architecture studio in the US. Both these designs are larger editions of the Fold and Upset fire baskets. As these are so much larger than the originals we’ve had to remake all the custom tooling. Pair of gates for some nice people in Kew, west London. This design wasn’t what I originally proposed but instead evolved into something more client lead. The leaf forms are taken from the surrounding trees and they were excited about combining details from several of my design proposals…… not how I usually work and my initial thoughts were 🙄 but it turned out great and was fun to make. Pergola season continues…..this time our path lead to leafy Muswell Hill in North London. Soon to be covered in Wisteria , this version uses T sections and echos French ironwork at the turn of the last century. It’s almost a wrap on this one. As ever it’s always hugely satisfying to see all the myriad elements come together. All it needs now is the swept zinc roof that is being supplied by a specialist contractor. The bare bones of this have been languishing in storage whilst we waited on the clients lock mechanism. Made up of the left overs of last year’s Strata entrance gates this one’s heading to our showroom. Resplendent in ‘ ratho grey’ MIO paint and weighing in as a super heavy weight it’s great to be able to hang on to a bit of this project……. Although the storage challenges of 20 yrs of samples means that I’m thinking of some kind of hybrid workshop iron cladding 🤔

Easing into 2024 with an Omega companion set for @mfosterinteriors in NYC. This is the first glimpse after cleaning off the bronze oxides after the forging process. The stand is great fun to forge starting life as a chunky lump of 38 mm round and being transformed into this elegant and fluid form.
