Our website relaunch has gone live today….. websites age pretty quick and I felt our one needed a refresh. There’s more emphasis on the process, we’ve ditched the blog as no one has one of those anymore, more rakish shots of me and even a little shop. Link is in my bio….. go and see what my 20 years of drawing, cutting, punching and forging looks like. Like a forged interpretation of estate railing it was great to get this one installed today. The client was keen for us to develop a design that didn’t interrupt the stunning views of the South Downs beyond. This one is super linear with an uber neat halving joint on one of the uprights……. 3 long days on site in Primrose Hill and it’s a wrap on this one……over 20 metres of forged and fire welded boundary railing. Thankful for fantastic clients and the help of Patrick @mulberrytree_forge for helping with this one. Great work and especially nice to once again use the same fire welded detailing that we developed, all helping to unify the ironwork at the property. These 2 will form part of a client presentation for a possible balcony project, the other designs being a bit more fluid and playful. What 5 days of solid fire welding looks like….. Patrick’s done a fine job on this lot . We were gonna share the welding on these but he got so stuck in I left him to it. Now it’s onto punching and curving top and bottom rails. #forging #ironwork #metaldesign #blacksmithdesigner

Found some time to finish of this candlestick yest

Found some time to finish of this candlestick yesterday, this was begun the week before when I did a talk and demo for the students @plumptoncollege , but alas the fire welding gods were feeling vengeful, either that or I was nattering on too much and I burnt off a chunk twice on the last weld🙄. I originally developed this design some years ago as a live competition piece, coming second I think to the champ @richard.hillam. I like the concept of one plate bending up in dynamic curves, on a functional note it could probably do with sconces . I couldn’t use a power hammer for the demo so this was forged and fire welded by hand from 7 different pieces and tube. #forged #process #craft #iron #blacksmithdesigner

Simple is always best…….. we fitted this slice of goodness today whilst templating a much larger railing in North London. Forged stainless 316 with a patinated bronze finish.
