This Bronze Railing is part of a recent body of work that explores the idea of a continuous line and our perceptions of it. What at first sight appears simple is in fact an exacting and complex form, informed by pattern and negative space.
Using forged details and joinery, the construction of this piece required both very precise forging and tight tolerances. The looped top details combined with the hot punched holes around the top rails use the language of the blacksmith but in a more contemporary way.
The Bronze railing is forged and fabricated steel with a thermal sprayed patinated bronze finish. 2018.
