Wrought iron gates for ‘Arnolds”

The ‘Arnolds’ wrought iron gates form part of the extensive refurbishment to a private home in the Ashdown forest, East Sussex.

Working closely with landscape designer Hannah Oakden  we developed a cohesive package of work that included pedestrian gates, automated driveway gates, as well as various railings and balustrades.

The inspiration for the design of these wrought iron gates came from nearby wooden carvings. The Clients are accomoplished musicians and the carvings feature in a private concert hall within the property. The repeat pattern in the design is also reminiscent of musical notes, an unintentional but welcome coincidence. This design concept was then carried through all the work we developed, uniting each piece within the garden.

The various gates mark the entrances to the terrace from the less formal areas within the garden. The rich palette of riven stone worked particularly well with patinated finish of the iron gates, helping to give a timeless feel to the metal work.
